LPG safety guidelines

Last updated February 2026

LPG is safe when handled correctly. Please read these guidelines before installing or using a gas cylinder, and share them with everyone in your home or kitchen.

Storing your cylinder

  • Always keep the cylinder upright on a firm, level surface.
  • Store in a well-ventilated space, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Never store a cylinder in a basement, stairwell, bedroom or sealed cupboard.
  • Keep at least one metre between the cylinder and any flame or electrical socket.

Connecting and using

  • Use an approved regulator and a hose that is within its expiry date.
  • Check the seal and clamp the hose at both ends; never stretch or bend it sharply.
  • Close the cylinder valve after cooking and whenever you leave home for a long period.
  • Replace hoses every two years, even if they look intact.

Checking for leaks

Brush soapy water over the valve, regulator and hose connections. Bubbles mean a leak. Never use a flame or lighter to test for leaks.

If you smell gas

  • Do not switch any electrical device or light on or off.
  • Close the cylinder valve immediately.
  • Open doors and windows to ventilate the area.
  • Leave the property and call Civil Defence on 997 from outside.
  • Once safe, call RuunOn on +971 55 723 5816 so we can inspect or replace the cylinder.

Our commitment

Every cylinder we deliver is pressure-tested and sealed, and our drivers are trained to check your regulator connection on delivery. If anything looks unsafe, the driver will not connect the cylinder and will advise the safe next step.
